Resistance and Poison Darts
These are the topics covered in two talks taking place at The New Inn.
Dinedor -10th March
In WWII contingency plans were made in case the Germans invaded Britain. Secret stashes of weapons and civilians trained in resistance were amongst the preparations made.
Poison Darts and their use in Warfare- 7th April
was the subject of our speaker’s PhD. From selecting the most effective poison, to avoiding detection, these dark arts are still practiced by some regimes today.

VE Day 80 -8th May
The branch continues to prepare the War Memorial grounds, with the much-appreciated help of PIPs, for a service around the Memorial to mark the 80th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day. Pupils of Pembridge CE Primary School will join us then and everyone is welcome to come along on that day.
Contributions from members of both time and money have enabled us to have an oak bench ready to be situated in a quiet spot under the cherry tree. It will have a QR code on it taking you to a biography of each name on the Memorial hosted on the Portrait of Pembridge website. www.portraitofpembridge.co.uk/warmemorial
While researching the lives of the men named on the Memorial, our late friend Rory MacColl, assisted by Tony Norman, discovered the names of some veterans were missing from the Memorial. Thanks to an anonymous donation from a member of the branch a new plaque will be added and unveiled then.
Some of you may have noticed that the flagpole has disappeared! It is undergoing renovation and will be back for VE80.
