Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2023

The Poppy Appeal starts on 26th October until 12th November which is Remembrance Sunday. Services will be held in our churches, with wreaths laid at the war memorials in Pembridge, Staunton, and Shobdon as well as Shobdon airfield. All are welcome to join the service at these memorials and particularly at the war memorial in Pembridge at 11am (please arrive a few minutes early) and to follow us to church along the closed A44.

As in previous years, static collection boxes will be placed in local businesses, shops, pubs, cafes, and our schools. These will be supplemented by door-to-door collections throughout Pembridge, Shobdon, Bearwood, Broxwood, Marston, Stansbatch, Staunton, and Weston.

On Saturday 28th October the RBL will have a stall at the Market Square Pembridge between 10am and 2pm. A contactless reader will be on hand.

Forty one Pembridge residents lost their lives in the World Wars and more recent conflicts. Portrait of Pembridge is telling the stories of each one of them, researched and written by RBL member, Rory MacColl. Click on War Memorial at the top of the page.

Last year the Pembridge and Shobdon Branch raised over £6,000  and we hope to better that this year, so that the vital work of the RBL in supporting veterans and their families may continue. In addition to raising money in our Parish we also assist Dilwyn and Eardisland with their Appeal and this year will have a member, Charlie Lynch-Staunton, organising the Poppy Appeal collections in the Wigmore and Leintwardine area.

Thank you to all our collectors, schools, and local businesses which support the RBL and to Pembridge and Shobdon residents and those in surrounding areas for their generosity.
