Walkers Raise over £50,000 for St Michael’s Hospice

A group of walkers from Herefordshire completed a four-day hike covering 116 km along the Camino Way, Northern Spain, to arrive in Santiago de Compostela on Friday 25th October. Amongst them was Pembridge resident, Sarah Steer,

The group has now raised over £51,000 for St Michael’s Hospice, with Sarah contributing £3,093 of that.

Speaking to Portrait of Pembridge on completing the walk, Sarah said, “ Thank you to everyone for your donations and messages of support in my “Conquer the Camino Challenge” We had an amazing journey, meeting pilgrims from all over the world along the way, Thank you so much to everyone.”

The Camino Way is an ancient pilgrim’s route and the cathedral at Santiago de Compostella is the third most important Christian shrine after Jerusalem and Rome. It is allegedly the burial place of St James the Apostle and attracts pilgrims from all over the world to its 13th-century cathedral.

Pembridge Film Nights at the New Inn showed the film “The Way” the evening before Sarah completed her walk and added a further contribution to her fundraising. If you would like to donate to Sarah’s just giving page is shown below.

Well done Sarah and all the group for supporting our local hospice.
