Pudding and Pimm’s Success

On Saturday 24th June St Mary’s Church held a successful fund-raising evening at Moor Court Farm, home of Eric and Clare Price.
Antiques expert and Bargain Hunt star, Ben Cooper (pictured), talked about his life in antiques before providing commentary on several items brought by members of the audience.
Ben studied art and archaeology of the Far East and Africa at London University where he gained expertise in Imperial Chinese porcelain. He then joined Sotheby’s before becoming an antique dealer based in Leominster’s Antique Centre. 
The Antique Centre is often filmed by the BBC for the Antiques Road Trip. It was this which led Ben into appearing as an expert on Bargain Hunt. 
The items brought for valuation included a Georgian silver tankard, a silhouette of Queen Adelaide from the 1820s, a 1920s art deco silver-plated cocktail set and an 18th century cordial glass. Ben believed the carved sheep, shown in the picture, was probably Italian iconography associated with St John the Baptist. 
None of the items produced a life changing valuation for their owners but a good time was had by all. 
This was helped by an array of delicious puddings and a glass or two of Pimms on a warm summer’s evening in the delightful surroundings of Moor Court Farm.
