Music Makers Converge on Pembridge
Pembridge appears to have more than its fair share of musical talent. It is already home to the Ukulele Band The Backyard Boys who regularly play at the New Inn, while Sun Nation, a local rock band, practices at the Parish Hall, and last month saw the formation of the Loves 2 Sing Community Choir.
A new band has now been formed. Now and Then is a group of Pembridge residents who play popular music from the 1950s to the present. The group got together in January and has been practicing hard for their first gig on Saturday 9th March, at 8 pm at the New Inn. All are welcome to join in the sing-along. Despite the name of the band, which is the same as The Beatles’ latest single, it’s not a tribute band to the Fab Four, the choice of name being coincidental.
If this is not enough, a Music Festival combining music, food, and family fun is to be held in Pembridge on Saturday 24th August. More details to follow on Portrait of Pembridge in due course but save the date for a great day out on your doorstep. With all this musical talent, National Theatre, Royal Opera, and Ballet showing at the Parish Hall, and film nights at The New Inn, it’s only a matter of time before Pembridge can apply for UK City of Culture status.
