Nikki Gostelow

In Memory of Nikki Gostelow whose heart was always in Pembridge

My lovely wife Nikki Gostelow who passed away on the 4th of October 2022, first came to Hereford as a

child with her father, Arthur Miles who was born in Staunton on Arrow. After many happy holidays at the

Tack Barn Lyonshall, she made her mind up very early that one day she would return to live here. She was

born in Uckfield, Sussex, and after spending many happy years there finally got the chance and moved

firstly to Presteigne. She later bought the Rhodds farm in a very dilapidated condition, aided by her then

husband Ken, they worked on the property for many years to make it into a lovely home surrounded by

fields.

Her connection with Pembridge goes back as far as her grandmother being married in Pembridge church.

Her mother Dora Miles lived in a house called Jacob’s Castle on the A44 Lyonshall.

When I was thinking of some way of giving something back to the village that she enjoyed so much, I

stumbled on the small paragraph in the Pembridge News, saying that any profits from the Platinum Jubilee

book sale would go into the defibrillator fund, That was my lightbulb moment, how fitting that something

that could save lives could also be in memory of Nikki in Pembridge, I could feel her nodding approval,

so now the unit is up and running, I hope that it is never needed, but if it is, my adored wife Nikki Gostelow

will be there in spirit.
