The Royal British Legion
The RBL Is a charity which supports servicemen and women and their families and is best known for raising funds through the Poppy Appeal in November each year. Last year the Pembridge & Shobdon Poppy Appeal raised over £6,000 for this vital work.
Apart from leading the Nation’s Remembrance parades, it also has a branch network. This was originally set up to provide an environment where ex-service people could mix with others in a similar position. This continues but membership is not limited to those with a military background.
The Pembridge & Shobdon branch has over 50 members and organises a series of events. These include our annual dinner and Christmas Draw, trips to places of interest, such as our recent visit to Normandy, and talks, which have ranged from the Falklands Conflict to Parachuting Across the Channel, and the history of the Accrington PALs.
Anyone who shares the aims of the Legion may join. Many of our members wish to honour their own relatives or friends who served. For details speak to Graham Hudson 07770 635897
